Close Enough for a Man – But Shaved for a Woman?

The Manly Art of Shaving for the Ladies, or…”Close enough for a man, but shave for a woman?”

(with apologies in advance to the Irish Spring folks)

So, shaving with a pre-shave oil, a brush and proper lather, etc. is the manly art of shaving, right?
Sure, it was odd having the lovely LuLu re-teach me how to shave like a man with a double edge safety razor,
but how did she learn all of this?  Is it applicable to women as well?

As it turns out, we got to talking about this.  Since SWMBO had patiently indulged me in my desired visit to the
Art of Shaving store, I had to ask LuLu if she had recommendations for SWMBO?

As it turns out, the whole Art of Shaving process works very nicely for the ladies as well.

(Though it’s probably better not to choose the Sandalwood fragrance for m’lady’s legs and pits.)

So, what Razor for M’Lady?

I delicately asked what was the razor recommendation for M’Lady SWMBO.

Gillette Fusion Pro Glide - NOT a double edge safety razor

A double edge safety razor for M'Lady? Nay, a Gillette Fusion Pro Glide - with a built in light

LuLu said that she highly recommended the Gillette Fusion Chrome Collection POWER RAZOR.

The Fusion™ Chrome Collection POWER RAZOR is perfectly balanced and weighted to feel like a natural extension of your hand, maximizing stability and control. Gentle micro-pulses help you reduce friction and increase razor glide*. The built-in spotlight, the first of its kind, reveals details normally in shadow – such as under the chin and jaw line – to help you avoid missed spots and make every stroke count. The sleek, contemporary handle is an ideal combination of ergonomics and innovative design, handcrafted in polished chrome and wrapped in a matte black, thermo-resin grip.

This caught me off guard, as this isn’t a classic double edge safety razor, but a modern multi-blade cartridge razor.   We asked her to show it to us and tell us why it was the hot setup.

So, this is a manual razor, but it needs a battery.  What?  Turns out that it’s got a ‘vibrating head’ feature (which seems a bit gimmicky).  LuLu then told us something close to, “OK, this sounds really stupid, but I really like this razor because of the light.”  Yep, it’s got a light.  Apparently, this really helps with those ‘delicate’ areas.

“You mean like around the ankle?”, I asked.  She said, “Absolutely!”

The Manly Shaver’s Mantra – HAPPY WIFE = HAPPY LIFE

I asked LuLu to please hook my ever indulgent SWMBO up with the full setup – pre-shave oil, shaving cream, a brush, the razor, after shave lotion….all in a nice lemon scent.

Once we got home, the always lovely SWMBO gave it a try.  Turns out, as stupid as it sounds, the light REALLY helps!  And her legs are oh-so-smooth and sexy!  That was certainly a good investment!

Thanks again, LuLu!
